The Health Needs Assessment Survey has been extended to Monday 6 May 2024!*
We have already had some incredible feedback from people working in the health sector across a broad range of disciplines. Of course, the more we know about your experiences working in health care, the better we can help facilitate change and make improvements.
Answers to this survey will help Brisbane South PHN and Metro South Health gain a deeper understanding of current health needs and service gaps experienced across our vast and diverse region.

What is the Health Needs Assessment?
It's a thorough analysis of the health needs and service gaps in our region. We gather this information through consumer and health workforce surveys and forums, and we combine this data with a comprehensive analysis of state and national population health and social data.
Our Health Needs Assessment helps identify health priorities based on how the people in our area use the health system. With these priorities defined, we can distribute resources more equitably and plan programs that cater to the specific needs of people living and working in our region.
Why have a Health Needs Assessment?
As a Primary Health Network (PHN), we work towards 2 key objectives:
• Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services, particularly for those most at risk of poor health outcomes.
• Better coordination of care so people receive the right care in the right place at the right time.
Additionally, Commonwealth and state governments mandate Health Needs Assessments to ensure resources provided to improve population health and wellbeing outcomes are being used most effectively.

Who is involved in the Health Needs Assessment?
Brisbane South Primary Health Network (PHN) and Metro South Health are partnering to assess the health needs of the people who live and work in our region. The joint Health Needs Assessment Survey is part of an extensive regional Needs Assessment undertaken every 3 years.
