Endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics grant funding: Expressions of interest now open
On 9 February 2025, the Australian Government announced funding over 3 years to support the establishment of 11 new endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics (EPPCs) in primary care settings. This measure will expand the network of EPPCs from 22 to 33 across Australia.
Brisbane South PHN is pleased to have been invited by the Australian Government to nominate up to 2 eligible general practices from our region to be considered for this funding opportunity. General practices eligible to apply are those that focus on delivering services for women’s* health, including the management of endometriosis, pelvic pain, perimenopause and menopause.
*We acknowledge that sex and gender are distinct concepts and that sex-specific health issues covered through this service affect women and gender diverse peoples.
About endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics (EPPCs)
Endometriosis is a complex and debilitating chronic condition that can be hard to diagnose, with those suffering waiting an average of 6-8 years before diagnosis. In recognition of this, the Australian Government is funding eligible general practices to run endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics (EPPCs) to enable accessible endometriosis care and management, leading to improved diagnosis timeframes and appropriate pain management for impacted patients.
In addition, the clinics will be funded to provide care, support, treatment and management of symptoms associated with menopause, including throughout the menopause transition (perimenopause) and post-menopause.
How to apply for funding to become an EPPC
Funding of $770,000 (excluding GST) over 3 years will be provided to a maximum of 11 existing general practices nationally that currently deliver women’s healthcare services.
The funding is intended to help practices enhance their capability and capacity to manage patients with endometriosis, pelvic pain, perimenopause and menopause symptoms.
Brisbane South PHN has been tasked with nominating existing local general practices with a demonstrated focus on women’s health, that meet most of the selection criteria.
General practices that would like to be considered for nomination are invited to submit an expression of interest (EOI) by sending a completed application and EOI form to tenders@bsphn.org.au.
Applications close 5 pm, Wednesday 23 July 2025.
Submitted EOIs will be evaluated by a panel and applicants will be notified of nomination outcome by early August 2025.
About the application process
Applications will be evaluated by Brisbane South PHN and shortlisted for nomination based on the strength of their submission to meet the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing’s selection criteria.
A maximum of 2 practices can be nominated to the department. The department will then assess the nominated practices against the selection criteria and the alignment of their responses with the grant objectives and outcomes.
General practices are encouraged to apply should they meet most of the assessment criteria, or where a genuine need in the local area has been identified and a general practice is able to demonstrate how it could utilise the funding to meet the assessment criteria.
About the evaluation process
Submission of an application is not a guarantee that a general practice will be selected to receive funding. Submitted applications will be evaluated against the assessment criteria by a departmental panel and not the PHN. The Australian Government is responsible for final decisions on EPPC locations, funding amounts and assessment activities.
